Copenhagen Balboa Weekend Spring 2026

The Copenhagen Ministry of Balboa is proud to once again announce a Copenhagen Balboa Weekend – join us for an amazing weekend and enjoy springtime in wonderful Copenhagen!

Registration will open on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 12.00 (noon) …

We offer six hours of classes on four levels with renowned international teachers, parties with live bands Friday, Saturday and Sunday and awesome tasters – all at cosy venues in wonderful Copenhagen.

Teachers

The CBW Spring 2026 features two days of classes with internationally renowned teachers and dancers Natalia Eristavi & Jacob Wigger (US) and Elena Paiola & Alberto Boffa (IT). In addition, we have two tasters lined up for you Friday and Saturday 19:30-20:30 (teachers TBC).

Natalia Eristavi is a jazz dancer, teacher and performer based in St. Louis, Missouri. Dancing all her life, Natalia fell in love first with Balboa and Lindy Hop 10 years ago, and soon after she ventured out into Solo Jazz, Collegiate Shag and Carolina Shag. In her own words “What I love most about Swing dance is Jazz Music and the freedom to improvise through movement, whether solo or with a partner. Being a guest in this culture and creating together with others, whether in a class, social dance or jam setting is a beautiful and vulnerable experience that I feel privileged to be a part of.”

LA-based Jacob Wigger discovered his love for Balboa in 2005 and soon began traveling to teach and dance at events worldwide. His first passion is social dancing, and is known for his intricate Pure Balboa footwork, unique shapes in Bal Swing, and his effortless, rhythmic flow on the dance floor. Jacob’s teaching focuses on connection and partnership, helping dancers create a shared, dynamic dance experience. Combining humor with clear, detailed instruction to create an engaging learning environment. Jacob excels at breaking down complex movements into smooth, accessible techniques.

Elena and Alberto are known for their elegant, harmonious dancing, seamlessly blending fluid dynamics with precise partner connection. While their roots include Lindy Hop and Collegiate Shag, their hearts are fully committed to Balboa. Drawing on contemporary dance techniques and intensive swing training, their teaching emphasizes body awareness, refined movement mechanics, and deep understanding of lead-follow dynamics.

Passionate about preserving early 20th-century dances, Elena and Alberto bring historical context into every lesson. Their engaging classes are complemented by captivating presentations on Balboa’s history and significance in swing dancing.

Venues

All classses and the Sunday Tea Dance will take place at the House of Serapion, Haveselskabetsvej 3a, 1823 Frederiksberg C, Copenhagen – MAP

Parties Friday and Saturday will unfold at Christianshavns Beboerhus, Dronningensgade 34, 1420 Copenhagen – MAP

For both locations, we are in the midst of Copenhagen with great restaurants and cozy shopping areas all around us!

Classes and levels

Kindly read the level descriptions thoroughly before you register. This gives everybody the best chance for being at a suiting level.

The teachers/organizers may ask you to move up or down a level if they believe you have selected or been placed at a wrong level.

Intermediate: You know the basics of Balboa and dance comfortably if the music is not too fast (corresponds to having completed Level 1 & 2 at Ministry of Balboa).

Saturday, 10:00-13:00 Sunday, 14:00-17:00

Intermediate/Advanced: You are an experienced Balboa dancer. You can lead or follow many moves and variations, and you feel comfortable dancing at all tempos (corresponds to a solid Level 3 at Ministry of Balboa)

Saturday, 14:00-17:00 Sunday, 10:00-13:00

Advanced: You are a very experienced Balboa dancer. You attend plenty of international workshops – you probably compete or teach classes and tasters on your local scene. You can lead or follow many moves and variations, switch roles, and you playfully dance at all tempos (corresponds to Level 4 at Ministry of Balboa)

Saturday, 10:00-13:00 Sunday, 14:00-17:00

Invitational: You have danced a lot of balboa and are a very good dancer. You already have several recent videos you can send to pass the pre-audition. You can dance both fast and slow balboa. You are likely an established local teacher and/or you regularly compete in Balboa auditions.

Participating at one level including party pass Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 1.475 DKK or 198 Euro
Participating at two levels including party pass Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 2025 DKK or 271 Euro Party pass for Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 625 DKK or 84 Euro If not sold out, Party ticket for one night (at the door only): 250 DKK

Terms & Conditions

Payments

Payment must be made within 3 days of receiving acceptance email and payment instructions to secure your registration. If we don’t receive your full payment in due time your reserved spot may be given to another person. Please take care of all transfer costs and conversion cost if paying via bank transfer. Unfortunately we cannot refund your purchased class pass for any reason, but you may transfer your class pass to someone else with the same dance role (leader or follower). If you do so, let us know by email to whom you sold your class pass so we can update the registration.

Liability

All participants are attending the event at their own risk The Ministry of Balboa do not assume any liability or responsibility for incidents and/or injuries and loss or damage of any personal belongings during the classes or socials. Classes with very few participants may be cancelled Other information It may take us a few days to get back to you, not least because we need to ensure balance between leaders and followers.
