Copenhagen Balboa Weekend Spring 2024

May 24th to 26th 2024

The Copenhagen Ministry of Balboa is proud to once again announce a Copenhagen Balboa Weekend with fabulous international teachers which we are not quite yet ready to announce, but they are going to be great, you’re in for a treat.

In addition to the ever-important evening parties with live music, CBW features two days of classes with legendary teachers and dancers to get inspired from!

Venue

The evening parties will be held at Serapions-Ordenen (Haveselskabetsvej 3B). And also Saturday and Sunday classes and tea-dance will be held the same place – the floors are fantastic, the cozy bar and lounge is great, and we are in the midst of Copenhagen with great restaurants and cozy shopping areas all around us.

Bands

The Bands will be announced during the winter – and there will be live bands, both for the Friday and Saturday parties as well as for the Sunday tea-dance.

Classes and levels

Kindly read the level descriptions thoroughly before you register. This gives everybody the best chance for being at a suiting level.

The teachers/organizers may ask you to move up or down a level if they believe you have selected or been placed at a wrong level.

  1. Beginners/Intermediate: You have danced some balboa, but you are still getting your sea legs. You have completed Level 1 with Ministry of Balboa or Happy Feet Studio.

  2. Intermediate: You know the basics of Balboa and dance comfortably if the music is not too fast (corresponds to having completed Level 1 & 2 at Ministry of Balboa).

  3. Intermediate/Advanced: You are an experienced Balboa dancer. You can lead or follow many moves and variations, and you feel comfortable dancing at all tempos (corresponds to a solid Level 3 at Ministry of Balboa)

  4. Advanced: You are a very experienced Balboa dancer. You attend plenty of international workshops – you probably compete or teach classes and tasters on your local scene. You can lead or follow many moves and variations, switch roles, and you playfully dance at all tempos (corresponds to Level 4 at Ministry of Balboa)

Prices

Early bird to anyone who registers before the end of 2023

    • Participating at one level
      including party pass Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 1.100 DKK or 148 Euro
    • Participating at two levels
      including party pass Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 1.500 DKK or 202 Euro
    • Party pass for Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 500 DKK or 67,5 Euro
    • Party ticket for one night (at the door only): 212 DKK

New signup form and procedure!

We finally have found a new registration system we think are better, but it still does have a tiny flaw – it doesn’t send email on initial registration, but if you can download a PDF from a link on the last page of the registration – then you are registered.

Lottery and 2 weeks grace period

To lessen the load on our tiny server and to make it such that you do not need to sit ready at exactly when the registration opens, we have decided that we will have a 2 weeks grace period during everyone will be on the waiting list.

After those 2 weeks we will accept couples, singles with a partner and have a lottery among the solo single registrants. We will still honor a good class balance, so even after the lottery there will most likely be some registrants initially remaining on the waiting list until more people register – invite your friends!

After those 2 weeks grace period and the lottery we will return to a first come first served order.

Even if you first register as a single, but then find a partner, then you can just have them add your name and email to their registration, and we will accept both at the same time.

Terms & Conditions

Payments

  • Payment must be made within 3 days of receiving acceptance email and payment instructions to secure your registration. If we don’t receive your full payment in due time your reserved spot may be given to another person.
  • Please take care of all transfer costs and conversion cost if paying via bank transfer.
  • Unfortunately we cannot refund your purchased class pass for any reason, but you may transfer your class pass to someone else with the same dance role (leader or follower). If you do so, let us know by email to whom you sold your class pass so we can update the registration.

Liability

  • All participants are attending the event at their own risk
  • The Ministry of Balboa do not assume any liability or responsibility for incidents and/or injuries and loss or damage of any personal belongings during the classes or socials.
  • Classes with very few participants may be cancelled

Other information
